LGBT Elected Officials Overseeing Billions of Dollars of Key Transportation Infrastructure Development

The San Francisco County Transportation Authority, (SFCTA) headlined by two LGBT Elected Officials gathered on Thursday September 19, 2024, for the ribbon cutting of the Hillcrest Road Improvement Project on San Francisco’s Treasure Island.   Both Supervisor Rafael Mandelman and Matt Dorsey were on hand to deliver comments at the event.

Both Mandelman and Dorsey serve as Commissioners of the SFCTA. This is the fourth major infrastructure project to take place on Yerba Buena/Treasure Islands where over $200M in construction has been developed by the SFCTA and its project partners including the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Caltrans, the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA), Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA), and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC).  All four infrastructure projects have included Minority, Women and LGBT business participation in delivering these projects.

Supervisor Rafael Mandelman also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) where he oversees the development of the $6 Billion Downtown which will help bring the California High Speed Rail project into downtown San Francisco.  That project also includes meaningful Minority, Women, Veteran and LGBT business participation.

Special thanks to Rudy Gonzalez who is the Secretary-Treasurer of the San Francisco Building and Construction Trades for always including LGBT tradespeople, professionals and small businesses in your advocacy

Special thanks to Tony Tavares (Caltrans), Andrew Fremier (MTC), Tilly Chang, Carl Holmes, Cynthia Fong, Stephen Chun (SFCTA) Adam Van De Water (TJPA) John Fisher, Bart Little, Michael Scott, Jacob Jones (WSP), Andrew Liu, Tyler Sheldon, and Stephen Polechronis (AECOM) for their commitment to inclusion and meaningful participation of all small businesses including LGBT firms.
